Of all the conventions which shape the modern world our interpretation of time is paramount. We live, work and play according to the rules of ‘man-made’ or Gregorian time. Clocks wake us up, tell us when to go to work, when to come home, when to eat and when to sleep; they control our lives entirely. The truth is we are so used to the dominance of mechanised time that most of never even question its’ validity; from birth to death we equate ticks that follow tocks with the sound of unswerving inevitability.
